I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents and friends of Buckley who so generously contributed to the 2015 Fall Fair and … whomever was responsible for the PERFECT weather!
On Friday night (click here to view the slideshow) both the silent auction and the live auction were hugely successful. Thank you to Lesley Stackler and MeiMei Nappi for setting us up with BidPal. Mr. Topel was quite the auctioneer and did not miss a raised hand. Another feather in his cap! If you would like to see the live auction introduction video, please clickhere. The decoration of the room was engineered by Linda Gulotta (the Buckley family pennants were fantastic!) and the Fazio family. Christine Wehle coordinated the beautiful class creations. The after-party party was organized by the Sher family.
Thank you to all the parents who cooked, baked, and brought food to Buckley. We had Greek, Italian, Asian, Caribbean, Latin, Indian, and Polish gourmet food, and grilled-to-perfection burgers and hot dogs complete with corn on the cob. All enjoyed the pony rides and petting the animals (Thank you Schleimers!). Heather Schoen, Michelle Fussell, and Shabana Yacoob recruited and led the volunteer crew. Click here (day 1) and here (day 2) to view the slideshows.
Let me also thank all the Committee Chairs whose work and enthusiasm contributed to the success of the Fair. Signage & Publicity: Daphne and Julio Rivera; Ticket Sales: Elaine Mark and Ilene Medina; Class Basket: Denise Davis and all the class parents; Gift Tree: Amie Kashinsky; Wine Toss: Elisha and Vincent Malanga; Bake Booth: Tammie Ross, Meryl Rubin; Buckley Store: Anna Theofilaktidis; International Foods: Mahi Vasiliades, Amie Kashinsky, Jaime Ruggiero, CJ Singh, Gerry Chen, Chris Roh, Margaret Kozikowski, Ilene Medina, and Sheila Carmody; Grill: Robert Santarpia; Children's Crafts: Jenna Checo, Christina Avallone, and Ayanna Spur-Shackelton; Pumpkin Patch: Jacquie and Jason Hembrey; Sports Challenge: Brian Turner, Dennis Carmody and Rob Santarpia; Candy Bar: Shirlyn Hsu; Vendors: Kathleen Katzmann; Lemonade stand: all the amazing 7th grade volunteers (Go Class of 2017).
The net revenue for this year’s Fair was an astounding $175,000. The proceeds will be used as part of our operating budget to fund programs, professional development, and facility improvements. Thank you to all of you for your unwavering support of our children's school and to all the event underwriters who helped reduce our overhead and maximize our revenue.
Thank you to Kerry McKibbins, and Stephanie Long in the Development Office for their hard work and late nights leading up to the Fair. Theresa Foy deserves tremendous credit for her leadership and for engineering everything that needs to go on smoothly behind the scenes so we can enjoy a successful and safe fair. Thank you as well to the amazing staff in the business office, Colleen Crowley and Sara Sweeney, our dedicated maintenance crew, Mirek Kmenta, John Crehan, Deo Ramdawar, and Noel Morales, and security services courtesy of Rob Foy.
A very, very special thank you from all of us to Caterina Skenderi and Mei Mei Nappi for their extraordinary can-do leadership, incredible stamina, and boundless school spirit as Co-Presidents of the Parents’ Association (AND to their families for giving up so much of their time with Mom).
