Students playing Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, French Horn, and Trumpet are required to rent or purchase an instrument for use in the Band. 

For a high-quality instrument and superb customer experience, we recommend ordering your wind or brass instrument from New Wind Music, located in NJ. New Wind Music shop will ship your instrument directly to your home. 

Percussion instruments for Band are provided by the School, however percussion students should purchase a set of drumsticks.

Students are required to rent or purchase an instrument for use in the Guitar Ensemble. Please find below specific models of Yamaha guitars that are moderately priced and highly recommended for student use. Guitar students will also need a tuner and picks.

 

Full-size Acoustic Guitar – most commonly used instrument in the Guitar Ensemble

 

3/4-size Acoustic Guitar – for consideration, depending on your child’s age and stature

 

Classical Guitar – for students specifically interested in focusing on Classical music

 

Tuner and Picks – All Guitar students will need a tuner and picks

String Ensemble 

Students studying violin, viola, or cello must provide their own instrument for rehearsals and at-home practice. 

A highly-recommended option for a superb rental and excellent customer service is Johnson String Instruments. Johnson Strings will ship your instrument to your home.

Local rental shops we recommend are: New York Violin in Little Neck, Murphy’s Music in Melville, and Long Island Violin Shop in Huntington. 

Representatives at these shops will let you know what size violin, viola, or cello your child needs based on his or her height.
