Dear Parents, Faculty and Staff,
As I am sure you are aware, several schools in our area have closed tonight because they were alerted by the Nassau County Department of Health that two contracted Locust Valley bus drivers tested positive for COVID-19. At this point, the Department of Health has not required or recommended that Buckley close. Therefore, Buckley will remain open tomorrow unless the Nassau County Department of Health requests otherwise.
I am asking, however, that if your child has a sibling attending one of the schools that is closed now, you NOT send him or her to Buckley until the school the sibling in question attends has been cleared to reopen. The same rule applies if you are a parent in one of the schools that has been required to close.
Please note that I have postponed the open house we were scheduled to have tomorrow in order to minimize the exposure of our students, teachers, and staff to outside families.
I realize and fully appreciate how stressful this situation is for everyone. Please do not hesitate to speak with me or any other administrator if you have any concern that we can address. We meet every day about this new challenge and are all here to support your chidlren and your family.
