Buckley Eighth Grader Celebrated as Published Poet!

On Monday, June 6th Upper School students gathered for a special assembly to celebrate Buckley eighth grader and published author, Danielle Parchment, Class of 2022. Danielle’s parents, Nadene Watson and Karim Parchment, as well as little sister Gabrielle ’27, joined her at the assembly.

Danielle, an already prolific writer of prose and poetry, has published her first book, titled An Eclipse of Her Mind. Danielle described the book as a glimpse into the mind of a teenage girl. The book is broken into five parts, titled: Her, Broken, Endless, Desires, and Family. Mr. Daniel Kriebel, Head of Upper School, started off the assembly, and welcomed Danielle to the podium, where she discussed her passion for writing and the themes of her book.

Danielle then read two of her poems. First, “Normal Girl”, a poem that highlights the insecurities that many teenage girls face. Next, Danielle read “My Dream for The Future”, a poem that highlights the author’s ideal dream world, “where peace and tranquility are restored, one where minorities aren’t constantly faced with systemic racism and bigotry, and where all people are treated equally.”

Danielle dedicated her book to her parents, Nadene and Karim Parchment, her siblings Gabrielle ’27 and Ramon, and her late uncle, Alton Leopole Watson.

An Eclipse of Her Mind is available for purchase at Amazon.com.

Congratulations, Danielle! Buckley is thrilled to recognize your hard work and creativity, and we thank you for sharing your talents with the Buckley community and the world through your insightful and powerful book of poetry!
