Five members of Buckley’s band program performed this past weekend at the Long Island Honor Band Concert, held at St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington. In all, 17 Buckley band members were selected to participate in concert, which selects the best of the best from private schools.
The students who performed in the Junior Honor Band included, Jonathan Goldenberg (trumpet) and Aidan Spurlock-Shackelton (saxophone). The Senior Honor Band included Samantha Amritt (flute), Adrienne Chacon (clarinet), and Katherine Vice (flute).
“The performance was tremendous and the students did an amazing job preparing,” said Meaghan Avellaneda, Buckley’s band conductor. “I have personally be involved in the Honor Band over the last ten years and I can honestly say it was the best concert to date!”
The performance consisted of elite band students from nearly 40 Long Island Catholic and private schools across Nassau and Suffolk counties. The top students are chosen from each school band to play challenging music, meet students from school across the Long Island, and get to work with different teachers.
Congratulations to all of those students who performed and who were selected.
